What is it?

(from Wikipedia) Stata is a general-purpose statistical software package created in 1985 by StataCorp. Most of its users work in research, especially in the fields of economics, sociology, political science, biomedicine and epidemiology. Stata has always emphasised a command-line interface, which facilitates replicable analyses.

What is available?

The University has subscribed to an annual site license for Stata/SE. The SE edition is more powerful that the IC edition but does not provide the multi-core performance of Stata MP.

Who can have it?

Academic use on and off campus by staff and students. .

When does the license/agreement run till?

The site license runs from 1st August each year. It has been purchased collaboratively by a number of Schools and IT. Use of the software will be assessed through the year to see if a site license represents value for money and a decision to renew or not will be taken in good time.
